Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng had a meeting with related authorities with regards to the erosion issue at Green Garden Apartments at Paya Terubong yesterday.
Lim ensured that an independent investigation will be carried as experts in the field are flown in from Kuala Lumpur.
Residents had a shock of their lives after rainwater burst through the wall beneath the 26-storey Green Garden Apartments on Thursday.
The gushing water washed away the soil and gravel from beneath the building, which is located on Jalan Paya Terubong here, and left a tractor-sized hole.
Investigations showed that a retention pond built beneath the building was clogged with rubbish, causing the water to overflow before bursting through the wall.
