A group of more than 200 retrenched employees of Nikko Electronics which was closed down in June 2008 gathered at the Penang High Court on February 8, 2010 for their case to be mentioned. Some of these employees have worked for more than 17 years and yet, none of them get any retrenchment benefits.

As a final resort, they proceeded to walk to Komtar to seek an appointment with Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng. The police have allowed the workers, mostly women to do so.

According to the Chief Minster's staff, they are arranging an appointment for CM Lim to meet with the workers' representatives on Feb 13, 2010.
