Sim Tze Tzin, Adun Pantai Jerejak and Abdul Malik, Adun Batu Maung condemned the burning the effigy of Lim Guan Eng outside Komtar the other day.

According to Abdul Malik, about 200 protesters from a group of non-governmental organisations set fire to a two-metre cardboard effigy of Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng after they failed to personally hand him a memorandum about the states alleged discrimination and oppression of Malays.

The protesters, who gathered under the name Gabungan Melayu Sedaq, had wanted to give the chief minister the memorandum which outlined 10 demands.

This included demanding the state government to stop demolition of stalls owned by Malays and to pay compensation to them, to provide evidence before taking action against Malay traders and to act against errant traders of other races as well.
