Nick Josh Karean, a Fellow of the Malaysiakini - ICFJ citizen journalism workshop looks into the methods used by the Kuala Lumpur city council (DBKL) in the rounding up of stray cats and dogs.
A TV3 360 episode had revealed the inhumane and cruel treatment of these animals and caused a public uproar.
On February 7th, concerned citizens gathered at the city council pound where animals are sent, killed and the carcasses dumped into shallow mass ‘graves’ nearby. They expressed their outrage at the methods and demanded that the city council put a stop to the abuse of animals.
